Industries experience

Membership in BPW offers many opportunities and many benefits to working women. Our advocacy work gives women a chance to be involved in the key issues that affect women in Canada and around the world. Clubs provide a “training ground” for developing leadership skills in a safe and supportive environment, allowing members to build networks and create lasting friendships. Members participate in a range of activities that lead to personal and professional development and career advancement.

A member of a local club is automatically also a member of the district, national, provincial, and international organizations. She is entitled to attend all events, including national and international conferences. She is also entitled to be part of BPW Canada’s delegation to the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations in New York each February. In addition, we have some specific programs, developed by BPW members at all levels of the organization, that are available to BPW members.

BPW Hastings & Prince Edward Member since 2007

When I first joined BPW my goal was to network but it quickly became a group of life-long friends. I met my best friend, Heather and my mentor, Karin, both active members of our Local, Provincial and National levels. Being a member of BPW has taught me professionalism, and has given me confidence to speak up and stand up for myself and all women. Attending Provincial Conferences has given me the opportunity to meet, and learn from, some really fantastic women from around the world. I have been a proud member for 13 years and I hope that, in years to come, I will be one of those women at Conference that inspires young women.

Jennifer May-Anderson.

BPW Hastings & Prince Edward Member since 2020

I joined BPW after hearing about it from another member.  I was looking to make new connections in my community and was intrigued by the fascinating guest speakers coming to the group.  What I found was that networking and learning from professional women only scratches the surface of what BPW has to offer.  I’m so impressed by the advocacy work that our organization has done over its long history and I look forward to helping put my mark on advancing women’s issues in the future.
